Role Purpose

The Technical Lead will be responsible for both the effective day-to-day operation of a team of engineers delivering high-quality product features for the WFM product and for providing technology leadership for Verint’s Workforce Management Solutions (WFM) as an architect and a hands-on developer.

As a software architect, the Technical Lead will also be responsible for the WFM component and services architecture that is driven by a contemporary set of standards and technologies including modern JavaScript frameworks, REST, JSON, Java, mobile, etc. The architecture enables integration across Verint solutions, external solutions, and newly acquired solutions. Responsibilities will include delivering WFM product features and components in line with Verint’s high standards for security, scalability, redundancy, resiliency, and serviceability. This position requires close collaboration with global architecture team and other product architects on key strategic cross-functional sub-systems and functions to ensure consistent architecture across our product portfolio.

The Technical Lead is actively engaged in all aspects of the software development lifecycle and will need to manage the competing demands on finite team resources while removing any blockers to team progress. They will work with the Engineering Manager and Product Management to ensure that the team are working from a continuously groomed backlog. The ideal candidate will have great empathy for the customer and end user, an understanding of the competitive landscape, outstanding communication skills, demonstrated track record of recent experience and success leading architecture of a complex product solutions, experience working with large globally distributed team, and experience with integration of various product platforms.

The role includes:

  • Leading, inspiring and being a champion for the team at a technical level

  • As a technical lead and architect, deliver high-quality, robust, and scalable software solutions

  • Providing hands-on architecture leadership, guidance and mentoring to Verint’s distributed engineering teams

  • Be an evangelist and strong communicator of the architectural blueprint of our product to build solutions that fit our customer’s needs

  • Serve as a leader for the company’s product architecture strategy

  • Mentor team members, provide guidance, leadership, and advocate best practices to the team in the areas of software engineering

  • Manage highly technical product initiatives, demanding strong communication, dependency management, conflict resolution, execution responsibility, and prioritization skills

  • Provide technical leadership and manage delivery of a team of product engineers responsible for platform features and sub-systems

  • Work closely with Product Managers and User Experience Designers, to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.

  • Initiate and manage new technology evaluation and proof of concepts.

  • Creating and maintaining an environment which is conducive to the team’s success and which aligns with departmental goals and working practices

  • Ensuring team members understand what the right thing to do is and that it is done

  • They are responsible for monitoring the team’s delivery and raising any issues with the engineering manager

  • Delivering WFM product features and components in line with Verint’s high standards for security, scalability, redundancy, resiliency and scalability

  • Collaborating with architects and product management on key strategic cross-functional sub-systems and functions to ensure consistent architecture across our portfolio

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Extensive experience in hands-on development and application architecture and design in the delivery of software products

  • Significant experience in an architecture role in previous large scale software development projects

  • Proven track record for technically leading development teams and delivering products successfully

  • Experience architecting and building large-scale enterprise software

  • Experience architecting and tuning a large scale solution on the cloud

Planning and Delivery

  • Experience in Agile software development process

  • Work with the team to produce estimates for plans

  • Work with the Engineering Manager to produce delivery schedules

  • Understand the team’s skill set and experience in order to prioritise tasks, making the best and most effective use of resources

  • Actively manage and maintain a capacity plan for the team

  • Ensure that the scope items are delivered within the agreed timescales and to the agreed quality while meeting the overall acceptance criteria

  • Initiate and manage new technology evaluation and proof of concepts.

Reporting

  • Communicate progress, risks and issues via weekly status reports

  • Escalate appropriate issues to the Engineering Manager

  • Provide ad-hoc reporting as required

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Product Managers and User Experience Designers, to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements

  • Understand why the scope items being developed are important, what benefits they will bring, who they are being developed for and how they fit into the product

  • Ensure stakeholders receive regular progress updates

  • Communicate clear boundaries, values, goals, expectations

  • Assess decisions/actions and recognise potential impacts on individuals and groups and make plans to meet the needs of all stakeholders as effectively as possible

Management & Leadership

  • Strong leadership and outstanding communication skills

  • Lead by example and act as a role model for team members

  • Provide technical leadership and manage delivery of one or more scrum teams responsible for platform features and sub-systems.

  • Make sure the team understand why the features being developed are important, what benefit they will give and who they are being developed for

  • Ensure that the team are aware of the agreed timescales and quality measures and meet the overall acceptance criteria

  • Act as a point of contact and escalation for all team members

  • Manage, motivate and inspire the team on a daily basis

  • Assesses and identifies staff who have potential and drive to further their career within Verint and create succession plans

  • Implement Verint appraisal, development and performance management processes

  • Foster a culture of openness and respect in the team

  • Assist own team in understanding how their role contributes to the fulfilment of the company vision and values

  • Be an advocate for best practice in areas of software engineering
